About the Program
The Consorzio Tutela Aceto Balsamico di Modena IGP presented to the EU, created this program “Balsamic Vinegar of Modena, The Original - Protected Geographical Indication from Europe” to promote the value of the product, its authenticity, safety, traceability, and labeling guaranteed by the European trademark protection.
The campaign champions awareness about authentic Balsamic Vinegar of Modena and encourages consumers to choose protected products over their counterfeits.
The 3-year program aims to reach young chefs, celebrity chefs, mid- to high-end food service operators, food bloggers and foodies in the US market. The educational campaign focuses mainly on California, New York and Florida, states characterized by a high consumption of specialty foods, a strong presence of high-end eating establishments, and an interest in specialty food products.
About The Consorzio Tutela Aceto Balsamico di Modena

The Consorzio Tutela Aceto Balsamico di Modena (the Consortium for Protection of Balsamic Vinegar of Modena) was set up in its current form in 2013 and aims to promote the added value of the product, in terms of authenticity, safety, traceability, and labeling. The goal is to teach how to identify the original Balsamic Vinegar of Modena, by recognizing the PGI logo (Protected Geographic Indication) and to raise informed purchasing awareness to get consumers to choose protected products over counterfeit and deceptive ones. Today the Protection Consortium brings together over 50 companies and represents 98% of the annual certified production of Balsamic Vinegar of Modena (Aceto Balsamico di Modena).
About The Protected Geographical Indication (PGI)

The Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) is the name of an area, a specific place or, in exceptional cases, the name of a country, used as a description of an agricultural product, which comes from such an area, place or country, which has a specific quality, goodwill or other characteristic property, attributable to its geographical origin, at least one of the stages of production, processing or preparation takes place in the area. The EU will only give a product the PGI status if they decide it has a reputation, characteristics or qualities that are a result of the area you want to associate it with. It is the PGI logo that guarantees the consumer about the authenticity of the product they are buying.
