Registration Details

General registration for the CIA's 2009 Worlds of Flavor International Conference & Festival is now open. The conference, Frontiers of Flavor: World Street Food, World Comfort Food, will take place from November 12–14, 2009 at the CIA's historic Greystone campus in the heart of Napa Valley, California. The exclusive event will include more than 60 culinary experts, from street food vendors, hawker chefs, market cooks, tapas and meze specialists to barbecue masters, grandmothers, mothers of chefs, fine dining chefs inspired by street foods and world comfort food, legends of live fire and claypot cooking, cookbook authors, street food chroniclers, and more—from a host of Mediterranean, Asian and Latin food cultures, and across the United States.

A hot ticket: Register early!

As you may know, this conference has become one of the most sought after events for professionals in our industry. Each year we sell out in a matter of days or weeks, with hundreds of professionals on waitlists. We wish we could accommodate more attendees, but the size of our Greystone campus doesn't permit us to confirm more than 700 total attendees, including our sponsors and participating media.

Registration fees are as follows:

  • Prior to May 1, 2009: $995 (foodservice operators and educators only)
  • On or after May 1, 2009: $1,095 (foodservice operators and educators only)

A limited number of tickets for CIA alumni are available at a preferred price of $985, a 10% discount off the general registration rate.


Who can register?

Please note that general registration will only be open this year to chefs and other foodservice professionals from the operator community and culinary educators.

In order to register, which you can do online or by calling our toll-free registration number at our Hyde Park, NY campus (see number above), you must provide the name of the restaurant, hotel, or other foodservice operator company or school or college for whom you work in order to be approved for registration.

Because we stage our Worlds of Flavor Conference specifically to help educate the foodservice operator community about world cuisines and flavor trends, and to provide product education and networking opportunities for our sponsors—and because of the limited size of the Greystone campus—we will no longer be able to accommodate professionals who are employed by producers/suppliers, manufacturers or marketing agencies that do not participate as a sponsor of our Worlds of Flavor Conference or other CIA educational leadership programs. We apologize for any inconvenience or disappointment this may cause.

We still have many educational opportunities available to showcase your organizations' products and services at the 2009 Worlds of Flavor Conference in front of this influential group of industry leaders and menu decision-makers. And for prospective sponsors with a tight budget, we have a new "entry level" sponsorship that includes two supplier (or operator) registrations plus a small ad in our program for $4,500. Otherwise be sure to inquire about how to sponsor a booth in our colorful World Marketplace, or sponsor a seminar, meal, or other conference program element.

Cancellation and Transfer Policies

Before you register, please take note of these policies:

Cancellation Policies:

  • 75% of tuition price refunded from the time of registration through May 31, 2009
  • 50% of tuition price refunded from June 1 to July 31, 2009
  • No refunds after July 31, 2009
  • Cancellation policies are "for any and all reasons"

Transfer Policy:

  • You may transfer your registration to an alternate, qualified person within the same registration category for a $100 transfer fee
