The Annual Vintners Hall of Fame Induction Celebration
The Culinary Institute of America has dedicated the historic Barrel Room to celebrate the men and women who have been responsible for the growth and world-wide prestige of the California wine industry. Each year, inductees are selected by a panel of over 75 national wine writers, critics, and historians.
Each spring, the college holds a Celebration of California Wine & Food, including a very special Wine and Hors d'Oeuvre Reception, Induction Ceremony, and Walk-Around Dinner in the CIA's teaching kitchens. Proceeds from the event help to support the Vintners Hall of Fame and contribute to scholarships for the Rudd Center for Professional Wine Studies at the CIA at Greystone.
The 2014 Vintners Hall of Fame Inductees will be announced in Fall 2013.
Monday, February 17, 2014—President's Day
The Reception in the Barrel Room
To celebrate the day, we will feature California wines that have been served at White House State Dinners over the years and the hors d'oeuvre inspired by those dinners.
The Ceremony in the Hall of Fame
Bronze bas-relief sculptures of our 2012 inductees, crafted by renowned American artist Lawrence Nowlan, will be unveiled by the inductee or a family representative. Our emcee, Karen MacNeil, chair of the CIA's Rudd Center for Professional Wine Studies, will then preside over the introductions of the Hall of Fame Inductees, Class of 2013.
The Dinner in the Teaching Kitchens
Guests will move to the famous Teaching Kitchens of the CIA at Greystone where they will watch our chef-instructors and some of our top students in action preparing dinner for the walk-around meal. Everyone's favorite congressman, Mike Thompson, will also be at the range. Wines will be served by Hall of Fame winemakers assisted by students of our Advanced Wine and Beverage Certificate Program.
