Peanuts and peanut butter are part and parcel of growing up as an American kid. Luckily, peanut butter already happens to be one of American children's most favored foods. Peanuts and peanut butter are both nutrient dense foods and can play an important role in a well-balanced diet.

Much of the 7 million tons of peanut butter consumed in America already goes into the American kids' systems. The National Peanut Board estimates that the average child will eat 1,500 peanut butter and jelly sandwiches before completing high school.

To build on the affinity the children have for peanuts and peanut butter, you might try one of the following:

  • Use a simple satay sauce as a dip for fried fish sticks or chicken nuggets. You may wish to tone down the spices in the recipe
  • Use Roasted Peanut Salsa in tacos and quesadilla preparations
  • Use Peanut Sauce with Noodles substituting spaghetti
  • You may even want to use the words “peanut butter” in writing kids’ menus where applicable
